Animals With Down Syndrome – Research

Animals With Down Syndrome

Animals With Down Syndrome, It is known that some people are born with Down syndrome, a genetic disorder caused by the presence of an extra chromosome that affects the physical and mental features of a person. But if you think that man is the only creature that suffers from this syndrome, then you are wrong. What some people do not know is that Down syndrome also affects animals!! Will it have the same effect on the animal?

Often, a genetic mutation arises during the development of the fetus in the womb of its mother, causing a genetic disorder that affects the physical or mental health of the newborn. Animals, like humans, are subjected to genetic disorders, the most famous of which is Down syndrome, which results in animals of different shapes and suffers from mental and physical problems, the most important of which is not having the skills that are available to members of his species.

A team of researchers confirms that Down syndrome causes a delay in the intellectual abilities of animals, just as it affects humans. In addition, animals affected by this type of genetic disorder look different in terms of their facial features.

Animals With Down Syndrome

At first glance, these animals seem spontaneous and gentle and can be approached and played with, but this does not mean that they are safe as they may cause harm, especially if they are predators.

It is worth mentioning that the characteristics that characterize animals affected by this syndrome such as a small chin, a large tongue, a change in the roundness of the face, a weakness in muscle tone, a flatness in the bridge of the nose, a short neck and others.

Despite the syndrome and the exceptional condition that animals suffer from, this does not make them an outcast among their companions and natural members of their species. They are able to integrate with them without any hindrance and the relationships between animals are not affected on the basis of this condition.

Research on Down syndrome in animals

The Down syndrome is a physical and physiological changes that affect humans since its existence in the womb of his mother, as always the natural body that contains 46 dye in each cell, comes half from the father and half from the mother, through the process of DNA replication, and that process It starts from the merging of the sperm with the egg until the embryo is formed and then the fetus is complete, and in the end the fetus is born as a human child with 46 pigments, and these pigments express its structural characteristics, but all the things we mention must be done correctly so that the person comes out in the form that we are now, But what happens when any malfunction occurs in the aforementioned process?

Indeed, there are many changes that occur during the process of DNA replication , which is the process that occurs in the formation of the newborn, which leads to changes called in science the term mutations, which are through the presence of abnormal characteristics from what a person is supposed to be, where the sperm and egg merge The process of forming the DNA of the fetus begins, resulting in the cloning of the first and second chromosomes, in addition to the cloning process reaching the twenty- first chromosome , and the cloning process takes place through abnormal mechanisms that lead to the occurrence of Down syndrome.

Down’s syndrome

It is a chromosomal syndrome that results from the presence of a mutation at chromosome level 21 through one of the following mechanisms:

Trisomy 21: where chromosome 21 is repeated, and three chromosomes are formed instead of two, and the number of chromosomes in each cell becomes 27 instead of 46, and most people with Down syndrome are due to this mechanism.

Chromosome transfer: In this transfer, chromosome 21 is separated, as it attaches to another chromosome, most often chromosome 13-14-15-21-22, and this point constitutes a small percentage of people with Down syndrome.

Mosaic type: In this mechanism, there are two types of cells in the affected child’s body, and some of them contain normal numbers of chromosomes such as 46 pigment, while the other contains the number found in Down syndrome, which is 47 pigment, and this type constitutes only 1% of the infected .

Down syndrome in animals

Did you know that animals also suffer from Down syndrome, as many studies and research have begun to appear that confirm that animals have had symptoms and morphological signs that saturate those signs that appear in Down syndrome with individuals, as a monkey appeared with parts in the nasal bridge, and had a small chin, while He has a high fold in the eye, Animals That Start With N in addition to that, some children in animals had a delay in both cognitive and cognitive development, and they had a great weakness in the separation from their parents.

Here, geneticists began to inquire about the reason, whether it is due to trisomy 21 or not, but the question has not been answered until today, and the reason for this is that a normal person is born with 46 chromosomes in cells, while not all animals are born with 46 Dye.

Causes of Down’s Signs in Animals

Several studies have confirmed that only 1 out of 700 children in the United States of America have Down syndrome, and that the percentage in animals is significantly less than that percentage, for example, speech bears 39 chromosomes. Many manifestations and symptoms are different from those of people with trisomy 21.

Many researchers have conducted various experiments on mice by means of animal engineering processes, and indeed they trisomy 16 in mice, and they showed many signs similar to those shown in infected humans, but they cannot be relied upon as a result of the experiment, because it is artificial.

In addition, it has been observed that there are many pathological conditions that show similar symptoms with Down syndrome in animals, such as congenital hydrocephalus in addition to a deficiency of the growth hormone in dogs, which shows many diseases of the tongue and also shows weakness of muscular resistance, in addition to cases of motor delay And my mind, and all these phenomena are what we have already mentioned as evidence of Down syndrome.

Kenyan tiger

The Kenny tiger was the tiger that aroused the interest of many people in recent times, as its shape confirmed that he had Down syndrome, showing many signs such as an upper fold in his eye, and his jaw seemed small, and his tongue was huge and prominent, in addition to that, The real dilemma was the reason that made him suffer from Down syndrome, but in any case, this tiger acquired the sympathy and love of many visitors, unlike other animals, and became the intended visitor.
